2 years later
I remember when we got married. I was living with a woman from church (Alice Mitchell), and Joel was living in what was going to be our first house. I had just left my first nanny job, and I was working at Coll's Farm. Life was good. My mom wanted me to have at least somebody around me the night before, because she was sure I'd be super nervous. I wasn't, but it was nice to have Julie sleep over anyway. : ) I woke up SO early on that Sunday, and Joel picked me up from Alice's. We went to Monadnock Bible Conference, whose campground we were using for the reception, and we put the final touches on the food (still really thankful to everyone who helped with the food--especially John Wendel). Yes, we catered our own wedding; and why not? Joel was working at a restaurant, and I was working at a farm stand--the stuff couldn't have been any tastier or fresher! Anyhow, we took care of the food, and then we met up at the church for a quick run-through of the ceremony before church began. We sat through the regular church service, and about 30 minutes later, we started the ceremony. We were married. : ) Then, we went back to our house, changed into jean shorts, grabbed our bags for the honeymoon, and went back to MBC for the reception. Thanks to everyone who grilled and put out food for us! Oh, and thanks to Meg Vanne, who made a bunch of different cheesecakes for our "wedding cake"--they were SO delicious! So we ate and fraternized while the kids enjoyed the SpongeBob bounce house, played a few rounds of volley ball, had our dessert, and hit the road. We were driving to Virginia Beach for the honeymoon, and we stayed in Southern CT our first night. We figured we'd do 3 hours of driving after the wedding and 5-6 hours the next day. We had a nice time in Virginia Beach (photo album), we stopped in to visit Laura Voisine & Livie Plouffe on our way back, lost my DVDs (all 96 of them) in the hotel that night, then came home. So wonderful.... and things still are so wonderful. Now I'm going to throw a couple of T-bone steaks on the grill for supper with corn on the cob. Oh, and if anyone's interested, T-bone and Porterhouse steaks are on sale at Johnnie's Foodmaster for only $3.99/lb. this week. That's a REALLY good deal!!
